About

Lisa Townsend, Co-Founder

I have many years of experience in the disability field, including as a substitute teacher in special education classrooms, a parent mentor for statewide support and structured teaching organizations (Family Support Network of NC and TEACCH) and several years as a Professional Advocate for a non-profit organization.

As a trained professional in the field, I also speak from personal experience.  My oldest son has ADD, my middle son has an Autism Spectrum Disorder, and my youngest son has a learning disability.  I am a graduate of Partners in Policymaking, a nationally recognized advocacy training program.  I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in Business and German.

At Autism Parenting Solutions, we regularly attend training sessions and conferences throughout the year to stay abreast of best practices and emerging research.  Participants in our workshops and training sessions consistently report that the personal stories we share, based on thousands of interactions, are powerful links between research and implementation.
